QUESTION FOR WRITTEN ANSWER
33. Mr Gerald Giam Yean Song: To ask the Minister for Communications and Information in the last one year (a) how many National Library Board’s members have borrowed at least one physical book from the libraries; (b) what has been the total number of physical books borrowed; and (c) of these, how many have been reserved and collected as opposed to being picked up from the bookshelves.
Answer:
Over the one-year period from December 2022 to November 2023, 524,000 National Library Board (NLB) members borrowed at least one physical book from NLB’s libraries. They made a total of 20.9 million physical loans and renewals of books, of which 141,000 were reservations.
