Minister Josephine Teo to attend G20 Digital Ministers' Meeting in Italy from 5 to 6 August 2021

Minister for Communications and Information Mrs Josephine Teo will visit Trieste, Italy from 5-6 August 2021 to attend the G20 Digital Ministers’ Meeting. Singapore was invited as a guest country by Italy, which holds the 2021 Presidency, to participate in the meeting. The meeting will be attended by Ministers from G20 member and guest countries, including Argentina, Canada, the European Union, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, as well as the United Kingdom.

With digitalisation creating opportunities across and transforming societies and economies, the meeting sets out to promote dialogue and cooperation among G20 member and guest countries to forge a better and more sustainable future, together. The meeting will also embrace opportunities and address challenges to help more benefit from digitalisation and help economies recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minister Teo will have bilateral meetings with her counterparts from other countries and international organisations, including Italy, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Rwanda, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on the sidelines of these meetings. These bilateral meetings seek to reaffirm Singapore’s digital cooperation with these parties and explore possible areas of collaboration of mutual interest.

Minister Teo will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Communications and Information as well as the Infocomm Media Development Authority.
